p>A British man hopes that he will break the record for Minecraft's longest-running game.

p>Joe Kelly, of Cheltenham Joe Kelly from Cheltenham played the game for 35 hours 35 minutes and 35 seconds, and raised PS1,800 to fund cancer research.

p>The current record, 24 hours and 10 minutes was set by Martin Fornleitner in Austria in 2011.
/p>
p>Minecraft involves building structures from blocks, exploring worlds and engaging in battles.

p>Last year, Microsoft bought Mojang, the studio behind it, for $2.5bn (PS1.5bn).

p>Mr Kelly, who owns an entertainment company and is a voice actor has played the game since it came out in the year 2010. He usually plays for just a few hours each week.

p>He said to BBC that he was able to stay awake and alert without caffeine, and it wasn't too hard.

p>"There were no stimulants other than sugar and stubbornness."
/p>
p>Mr. Kelly, who live streamed the entire game on YouTube? said that the incident took its toll on his hands.

p>"My back and shoulders didn't hurt, neither did my shoulders hurt. The most problematic thing was my fingers.
/p>
p>"They are so painful just from holding keyboard and mouse and being in clenched position for such a long time.
/p>
p>"Every tiny break I took, I was flexing the fingers."
/p>
p>Mr Kelly and his girlfriend, Sarah Vallance, are now in the process of sending evidence of the feat to Guinness World Records.

p>However, he is not thinking of stepping back from the game.

p>He said, "I introduced my girlfriend Minecraft and we play a lot together."

p>" It's something we like to do together. I'm not afraid to play."
