p>Minecraft maker Mojang is developing a spin-off game based on its wildly popular block-building title.

p>It is called Minecraft: Story Mode and will be an episodic video game that takes place in the familiar Minecraft world, but introduces new characters to the setting.

p>The game is produced by Telltale Games which has produced several other episodic titles.

/p>

p>The first episode will be available on consoles, PCs , and Macs in 2015, and also on Android devices.

/p>

p>It is unclear what the game's experience will be. Mojang has released a short browser-based game called Info Quest II, which explains what it could look like.

/p>

p>Mojang said in a blog post that the game will be developed using the assistance of the Minecraft community.

/p>

p>It was created to assure players that Story Mode is not violent and bloody like previous Telltale games. Recent Telltale games include The Wolf Among Us, Tales from the Borderlands and games based on Game of Thrones and zombie thriller The Walking Dead.

p>"Telltale's Minecraft-inspired game will be like Minecraft," stated Mojang, "but it's an entirely original take that is influenced by our game."
