By mid-September the Obama campaign pretty much admitted they had no strategy for Sarah or anything else that was not in their game plan. Since they had clearly not done scenario planning they found themselves in a box they could not wiggle out of.

So conservatives are faced with a choice. Abandon what they truly believe in and vote for McCain? just because he's a republican. Or search for the best candidate for them. I choose the latter.

He appeared in debates against the President and was very well prepared. Nobody could accuse him of slacking off on the campaign trail. He still lost.

But the real damage came from the lack of surrogate control; the surrogates were going after Sarah in ways no other candidate had ever been attacked. The hope was they could quickly discredit Sarah or cause her to quit.

This year Halloween retailers are saying there is an explosion of orders for Barack Obama Masks, John McCain? masks and Sarah Palin costumes. Since Obama and McCain? basically wear suits, there is no real need for a complicated costume. A standard dress suit worn with a purchased mask does the trick.

Does anyone outside of political pundits, advertisers, polling services, and others profiting from the spectacle really believe that these long mind-numbing campaigns result in a more informed voter?
