p>"Active Shooter" can be described as an SWAT simulator. It lets players select whether they wish to attack a school or react to the shooting. Players can pick either a gun, grenade, or knife and both police and civilian deaths are listed on the screen. Acid was selling an early version of the game online for $20. Acid plans to launch a new version of the game early next month.

p>After the game was removed by Indiegogo and video game marketplace Steam, article content Acid created two websites for Active Shooter. The removals were prompted by online petitions and complaints from anti-gun violence advocates including parents of children killed in school shootings in Parkland, Florida, where 17 students and staff died in February and Newtown, Connecticut, where 26 children and staff died in 2012.

p>After receiving similar complaints, a company hosting the new websites decided to take them down. But Acid has been able to get the sites back up and running after switching to Russian servers, according to an Acid representative, Ata Berdyev, of Seattle.

p>"Active Shooter" was developed by Anton Makarevskiy, a 21-year-old developer from Moscow, Russia, and is being promoted by his company Acid Software. Berdyev is helping Makarevskiy promote the game.

p>The statement from Wednesday by Berdyev suggested that the future of the game could now be in doubt.

/p>

p>"Seems like everyone in US is trying to block us and not revealing the exact nature of what we're doing," Berdyev said in an email to The Associated Press.
