p>Minecraft star Stampy Cat to present an RSE Christmas message

p>YouTube? and Minecraft legend Stampy Cat will deliver a lecture to around 2,000 Dundee schoolchildren.

p>Stampy - his real name is Joseph Garrett - will give the Royal Society of Edinburgh's Christmas lecture in the city's Caird Hall on Monday.

p>The creator of the "Let's Play" videos for Minecraft and other games has more than 6.7m viewers on his YouTube? channel.
/p>
p>Next Thursday, the lecture will only be available on BBC iPlayer.
/p>
p>BBC Scotland said Minecraft fans will, for the very first time, get to see Stampy demonstrate how he makes his videos in a discussion with Dundee games entrepreneur Chris van der Kuyl.

p>Van der Kuyl claimed that Stampy was the "epitome digital native of the 21st century" who would inspire viewers regardless of age.

p>"Stampy is a source of inspiration for an entire generation of young people who clearly see that future careers will rely on a unique combination of talents in the arts, creativity, and technical design skills that can be mastered by anyone," he added.

p>The RSE lecture will be given as part of BBC Make it Digital, an initiative to encourage digital creativity among young people.
