p>A British man hopes to have broken the world record for the longest game played continuously in Minecraft.

p>Joe Kelly from Cheltenham played the game for 35 hours 35 minutes and 35 second raising over $1800 to fund cancer research.

p>The current record, 24 hours, 10 minutes, was set by Martin Fornleitner in Austria in 2011.
/p>
p>Minecraft is about building structures from blocks and exploring new worlds and taking part in combat.
/p>
p>The title has sold more than 54 million copies worldwide.

p>In the year 2000, Microsoft bought Mojang, the studio behind it, for $2.5bn (PS1.5bn).

p>Mr. Kelly, who runs a film production company and also works as voice actor is playing the game since buying an early-development version in 2010, but typically plays for a few hours per week.

p>"Staying awake wasn't too bad - I did the whole thing without caffeine," he told the BBC.

p>Kelly, who streamed the entire event live on YouTube?, said that the stunt took its toll.

p>"My shoulders and back weren't hurting and neither did my shoulders ache. The worst thing was my fingers.

p>"They are so painful just by holding a mouse and keyboard and being in a clenched position for so long.

p>"Every small break I took, I was flexing the fingers."

p>Mr Kelly and Sarah Vallance, his girlfriend are currently in the process to send evidence to Guinness World Records.

p>He doesn't plan to take a break from the game.

p>He said, "I introduced my girlfriend Minecraft to Minecraft, we often play together."

p>"It's something we love doing together. I'm not averse to gaming."
