p>Microsoft has confirmed that Mojang and Minecraft will join its ranks, but it'll continue to make the game available across iOS, Android and PlayStation? as well as on Xbox and PC The company announced today. Microsoft says that they started their conversation around making the game available on the Xbox console after which they saw the game's immense success and decided to make the acquisition to help "diversify its game collection."

/p>

p>Founders Markus "Notch" Persson, Carl Manneh and Jakbok Porser quit Mojang after the acquisition that the team announced. Mojang's official website confirmed that the purchase cost was $2.5 billion. In their post the Mojang community team says that Notch shied away from controlling this hugely influential company, and prefers to focus on smaller projects. The decision was made to allow Minecraft to continue growing while allowing the founders to pursue other interests.

/p>

p>Mojang makes no assurances about the specific future plans that are in store for Minecraft but it does say that for now it should remain as normal. Microsoft says it "respect[sMinecraft's brand and its unique spirit" and will continue to work on projects such as MINECON which is an annual event focused on the game that was created by Mojang in 2010.

p>Community response to this announcement is likely to be mixed, and fans of the game who are Minecraft players who have been playing the game since its humble beginnings will likely be wary of the new corporate owners however, the reasoning behind the purchase is solid. At the very minimum, we'll get the chance to see if Notch can repeat, and the next generation's Lego equivalent all over again.

p>Here are Notch's thoughts on the deal and his decision to exit the company he created. This is from his blog, which was been down for a while when the writing was done. :

p>Mojang has left me

/p>

p>It was a long time back that I decided to end Minecraft development. Jens was the ideal person to lead it and I was looking for new things. https://golden-lynn.federatedjournals.com/minecraft-pocket-edition-is-officially-hotter-than-the-sun-1663913406 While I tried to make it large at first but it didn't work out. But I've decided to stick to small prototypes, interesting challenges and I've had so much fun doing my work, it has been a lot easier. Although I wasn't sure where I fit in Mojang where the majority of people work, I was told that I was essential to the culture, so I stayed.

/p>

p>A couple of weeks ago, I was suffering from a severe cold at home, and the internet went on a rage about me for a EULA situation in which I had nothing. I was confused. I didn't understand. I tweeted this out of frustration. Then, I watched the This is Phil Fish video on YouTube? and began to realize I did not have the connection with my fans that I thought I did. I have become an image. I do not want to be a symbol, responsible for something huge that I am unable to comprehend or don't want to work on, that is always resurfacing to me. I'm not an entrepreneur. I'm not a CEO. I'm a geeky computer programmer who enjoys sharing my opinions on Twitter.

/p>

p>When the deal is completed and I'm done, I'll be leaving Mojang to return to web experiments and Ludum Dares. If I make an error and it gets traction, I will probably abandon it immediately.

/p>

p>Given my public image that is already a bit distorted by me, I don’t expect to be able to ignore negative comments however, I won't have the urge to read them.

/p>

p>I'm aware that this is in contradiction to the majority of what I've said in public. I don't have a good answer to that. I also know that a lot of you have used me as a symbol to represent the perceived struggle. I'm not. I'm a human being and I'm struggling with you.

/p>

p>I am in love with you. Every one of you. I am grateful to you for making Minecraft what it is today. But there are too many of us, and I am not responsible for something similar to this. In one sense, it belongs to Microsoft today. It's been a part of your lives for a long time, and will remain yours.

/p>

p>It's not about the money. It's about my mental health.
