p>Everyone has their own personal recollection of their first time playing Minecraft which is usually filled with the same euphoric feeling of a child waking up early on Christmas morning. Minecraft is a heated blanket for the soul, and the warming mug of hot chocolate that makes the picture are the custom maps created by its community. These maps have evolved alongside Minecraft for a decade, ranging from simple adventure maps to full-blown game modes.

p>Many consider the 2009-2012 golden age of Minecraft maps to have been 2009. Minecraft was simpler in the past with the simplest tools and mechanics (except for Minecraft mods) that creators could explore. These limitations didn't stop creators from releasing prominent maps like Skyblock and The Walls, which have been downloaded millions of times and seen by millions of viewers on YouTube? Let's Plays. Although they are similar in structure they offer distinct variations of Minecraft's core gameplay. Skyblock is one example. It starts you off on a tiny island in the sky with only water, a tree and lava to survive, plus a ton of complex challenges to complete. The Walls The Walls, on the other hand, is an inspired battle royale from the Hunger Games in which each team has time to get ready before the titular walls that separate teams come down and a free-for-all commences.

p>If we talk about the most pivotal members of the Minecraft map community, you would be hard-pressed to find a more influential person than Vechs who has developed several influential maps - like Super Hostile and Race for the Wool which set the bar for what a top Minecraft minigame should be able to offer. Vechs declares, "I've been creating custom content for games ever since Duke Nukem 3D," and his Super Hostile series has more than two million downloads. Super Hostile itself gained a lot of attention from influencers and community members alike. There are numerous Super Hostile Let's Plays that have more than one million views on YouTube?.

p>"It's not every single day that you create a new genre. Vechs says it feels very good. My old method for making maps was to create a world, and then open it in MCedit and delete everything. "I prefer to start from scratch." Although he sticks to his original method however, the leap in quality is awe-inspiring to watch for veteran map makers.

p>"Minecraft maps are changing to improve, definitely. What was offered were a bunch of worlds people had let Minecraft generate, then they discovered a great location in the world and set up some sort of challenge by putting up signs. At the time, maps with low effort that used generated worlds were the norm. You would be ridiculed if you did such a thing today. The quality of the products on offer has dramatically increased."

p>Lucian Tash, better known in the Minecraft community as Chopper2112, is the leader of the Minecraft-affiliated map making group Yeggs. The team was founded in 2015 and has since created 23 maps. Tash and his buddies began making maps as a pastime. "Yeggs was originally created as a server on an old laptop that some real-life friends would play during the break. From there , we began to create tiny maps until the year 2019 when we joined the Realms program," Tash explains.

/p>

p>Mojang created the Realms content creator program in 2014. It functions as an online library that is curated for community-made maps.

/p>

p>Yeggs takes quality control extremely seriously. "A big objective of ours is to create games that are accessible, and this - along with the limitations of the Realms service itself - frequently requires us to think of innovative solutions to address issues related to lag," Tash says. "Sometimes you'll come up with an idea for something that requires a lot of resources. Many of the technical aspects of a Minecraft map are based on static objects within the game. This makes it quite difficult to obtain the appropriate hardware.

/p>

p>Yeggs has employed command blocks to create a variety of maps. These blocks can be used for executing lines of code. One their most recent maps, Road Runners, is inspired by the frogger-style humor of the popular mobile game Crossy Road. The map employs command blocks to transform Minecraft into an all-top-down race against time in which you must dodge streams of deadly mobs.

/p>

p>Tash says that the new commands have allowed ideas to be realized that wouldn't have been possible in the pre-1.13 version of the game. The way that custom maps are created is drastically changed with the introduction of datapacks. Not only does it provide simpler access to commands than command blocks have previously however, it also allows for the Minecraft map developer to call on a huge number of commands to run at once, or even use recursion to have a function call on itself."

/p>

p>Minecraft is still an unfinished project that doesn't rest on its achievements. Vechs explains that the foundation for Minecraft's unstoppable community has not been changing. http://coltgrain2.xtgem.com/__xt_blog/__xtblog_entry/__xtblog_entry/29217879-about-minecraft-and-how-to-get-a-free-minecraft-account?__xtblog_block_id=1#xt_blog "The most important skill for map creation is empathy. You need to create a mental model of what the player's vision is and how they feel and what they think. Empathy allows you to create challenging curves and be aware of when to break and when to include scenic vistas that give the player a sense of wonder.
