p>A British man hopes he will break the world record for Minecraft's longest-running game.

p>Joe Kelly, of Cheltenham Joe Kelly, from Cheltenham, played the game for 35 hours, 35 minutes and 35 seconds, and raised PS1,800 for cancer research.

p>The current record, 24 hours 10 minutes was set by Martin Fornleitner in Austria in 2011.

/p>

p>Minecraft involves building structures made of blocks, exploring worlds and taking part in battles.

/p>

p>The title has sold more than 54 million copies in the world.

/p>

p>Microsoft purchased Mojang the studio behind it for $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) last year.

/p>

p>Mr. Kelly is the owner of an entertainment company and works as voice actor is playing the game since buying the pre-development version of the game in 2010. Typically, he plays for a few hours a week.

/p>

p>"Staying awake wasn't too bad I was able to complete the entire thing without any caffeine," he told the BBC.

/p>

p>"There were no stimulants , except for sugar and stubbornness."

/p>

p>Mr Kelly, who live streamed the entire game via YouTube? said that the stunt took its toll on his hands.

p>"My back and shoulders didn't hurt neither did my shoulders ache. The most painful thing was my fingers.

/p>

p>"They hurt so badly just from being glued to the keyboard and mouse for so long.

/p>

p>"Every small break I took, I was flexing the fingers."

/p>

p>Mr. Kelly and Sarah Vallance, his girlfriend are currently working on sending evidence to Guinness World Records.

/p>

p>He has no plans to take a break from the game.

/p>

p>He said, "I introduced my girlfriend Minecraft and we play a lot together."

/p>

p>" It's a thing we like to do together. I'm not afraid to play."
