p>Minecraft to aid UN regeneration projects

p>Minecraft is being used to model 300 locations around the globe so that residents can decide how they want to alter their lives.

p>Block by Block is a collaboration between Minecraft maker Mojang, UN Habitat and the Block by Block program.

p>Minecraft will allow residents to create virtual tours of urban locations.

p>They will also have the ability to modify the model and decide on where the money for regeneration should be used.

p>One of the first places that was modelled in Minecraft as part of a pilot for Block by Block is the Undugu playground - part of the Kibera Slum area on the outskirts of Nairobi.

p>"We'll incorporate this into the game so that players can walk around and feel like it's as real as they can," Lydia Winters (community liaison manager at Mojang) spoke to the BBC.

p>Fyre UK, a Minecraft modeling company, has recreated Undugu on the computer. The UN plans to restore the playground is in the near future available to people who live close to it.
