p>"Minecraft maps are evolving for the better, assuredly. What was available were a bunch of worlds that people let Minecraft create, and then found a neat area in that world and created a kind of challenge there by placing up signs. Low-effort maps were quite common back then. You would be laughed at when you did the same thing today. The quality of what is on offer has risen dramatically."

p>Lucian Tash, also known as Chopper2112, is the head of the Minecraft-partnered map-making group Yeggs. The group was formed in 2015 and has produced 23 maps. At the time, making maps was nothing more than an enjoyable hobby for Tash and his friends. "The most important skill to make maps is empathy. You must run an imaginary model of what the player's vision is and how they feel, and what they will think. Empathy is what allows you to create challenging curves and know when to give breaks and when to include scenic vistas that give the player a sense wonder.
