Minecraft intends to make it easier for players to get hold of content made by community creators and fans.

Many users have already created intricate worlds for exploration, adventures to enjoy, or altered the game to offer new experiences.

Now they'll be able to legally sell the content via the game itself, in the brand-new Minecraft Marketplace.

Producer John Thornton told Newsbeat that the platform is designed to help entrepreneurs start businesses.

The people who make adventure maps skin packs for characters or experiences to play in the game aren't allowed to sell directly to other players.

Official Minecraft content is not sold in this manner. However, some players still earn a living from the game.

James Delaney, is founder of a group of Minecraft creators known as Blockworks and has been able to establish a business despite the limitations.

He is happy to welcome the Marketplace.

"Hopefully it's the start of regular and stable income," he tells Newsbeat.

"In the past, we relied on commissions to bring into our businesses, and you don't know when that will be."

He is the responsible person for 62 creators working in 20 countries.

Their main source of income comes from creating Minecraft-based content for educational and marketing campaigns.

James "got really into" creating Minecraft maps with his online buddies, and realized some time later that it was feasible to earn a living from it.

He says, "At least now we know there is an audience for our content."

"If it succeeds then we will know that we will be able to work on a more consistent and stable basis."

"Also it's content we can choose to make instead of being asked to create. Therefore, we can control the content with our own creativity."

The marketplace will be available later this year and be accessible on Windows 10 and Pocket versions of the game.

This means that the majority of the estimated 120 million users of Minecraft around the world will have access to it, although people who play on consoles will not.

John Thornton states, "Our ambition is to work towards connecting creators and our players."

"On Pocket edition, it can be difficult to get content onto devices. This makes it difficult for users and creators to share their favorite content with the world.

"By connecting creators to the marketplace , it'll make it easier for players to find something they want to play with, purchase it and have it on their devices."

People will be able to build community experiences outside the market, and players will be having access to them for free.

Producers hope that people will pay for the content that is simpler to find. https://photography-blogs.co.uk/

John says, "If you want people to share your content now, you need to put it on the internet and tell them where it is."

"You can use existing social networks to accomplish this, but it's more effective if you bring that into the game."

"Players can interact with the things they want to interact with in the context of the game they enjoy."

He hopes that the game will allow people like James to have thriving businesses through the game.

The Minecraft team is launching a new service with nine creators from all over the globe.

The central Minecraft team will be monitoring the adventure maps, skin packs and other experiences to ensure that they are appropriate for the players of the game.
