p>The Beano's Dennis, Gnasher and Walter join Minecraft By Emily Thomas Newsbeat reporter
/p>
p>Minecraft players should be on the watch for Walter "softy" and his stinky pants.
/p>
p>You can now add Walter, Dennis, the Menace, and Gnasher from The Beano to the PC version of the game.
/p>
p>Players can make the sausage for Gnasher and use all of Dennis his most effective pranks such as catapults and stink bombs.
/p>
p>It's part the Beano's larger plans to expand into digital. The mod was created in partnership between the cartoonist and Frima Studios, which is a Canadian multi-platform game maker.
/p>
p>Mark Cotton, who is the Beano's chief digital officer, told Newsbeat: "If you talk to any 7 to 11-year-old child, you will find that Minecraft is probably their greatest passion and love."
/p>
p>Mark says the game is an "extension" of the comic and an attempt to make The Beano "a more overall experience" for children.
/p>
p>"Roughly 32,000 comics are sold each week in the Beano which is a very healthy number," he says. https://www.mclijst.nl/ </p>
p>It's still far from the two million copies sold at the height of the magazines.
/p>
p>"We are well aware that kids today have a passion for digital technology," says Mark.
/p>
p>"We have to transform The Beano into an all-encompassing brand where Dennis and Gnasher is everywhere that kids are, instead of expecting them to come to us.
/p>
p>"So we're putting together complete a series of videos over the coming three to six months."
/p>
p>Some of them include puzzle games, interactive comics, and an "action 3-D game for kids".
/p>
p>The Beano's publisher DC Thompson has already extended the brand to a TV show, a photo sharing app and a YouTube? channel.
/p>
p>Grand Theft Auto?
/p>
p>The comic's been around since 1938 and has a lot of adult fans. So might the Beano characters appear in any of the adult games? Dennis the Menace in Grand Theft Auto perhaps?
/p>
p>"No. Mark says, "No.
/p>
p>"We are focussing on the 7-11 year old digital product. In the present, digital is all about engaging with children and understanding their interests.
/p>
p>They've been working with 10 Minecraft and Beano enthusiasts aged 7-11 during the development process.
/p>
p>Minnie the Minx
/p>
p>"We mostly asked children, 'If you put Beano into Minecraft, what do you think?'
/p>
p>"This was the first stage of what they had in mind. Their imaginations can go far beyond what we can do today.
/p>
p>"But they wanted pranks. They wanted Walter, Gnasher and Dennis. That's what they got.
/p>
p>"We'll keep talking to them. We want to expand this and create Beanotown so that children can be creative.
/p>
p>"Minecraft is so beloved because it gives the power to children. If we tried to control the children and tell them what they should do, they'd reject it."
/p>
p>Will other characters also get a glimpse?
/p>
p>"We certainly want to extend it," says Mark.
/p>
p>"The obvious character and the one that the kids have been looking for is Minnie the Minx so that's what we'd probably look at next."
