Women with financial power tend to be far less benevolent towards their husbands than husbands are when they have it. Far less. Not close.

Of course there are exceptions.

I don’t know how much of this is custom and belief and how much is a bio tendency. I do know there’s little in feminist culture to soften this for men, even as women are for more often given or allowed financial power over husbands.

Not like, my family was so incredibly rich that we never had to worry about money, just that my parents never had any sort of combative relationship over money. My father made more than my mother did, but neither of them thought of money as a “power” thing. Really. I mean, maybe it had something to do with the fact that they’re both schoolteachers from the midwest, or maybe it had something to do with the fact that they’re both very religious and so marriage very obviously = forever…but yeah. More likely it had a lot to do with the fact that they just don’t care that much about money.
