p>Minecraft players should be on the watch for Walter "softy" and his stinky pants.

p>Walter, Dennis the Menace and his dog Gnasher from The Beano, can now be added to PC versions of the game.

p>Gnasher can be transformed into a sausage by players and all of Dennis' jokes, like catapults and stink bombs, can be employed.

p>It's part of Beano's larger plans to expand into digital. The mod was created as a collaboration between the cartoonist and Frima Studios, which is a Canadian multi-platform game maker.

p>Mark Cotton, who is the head of digital transformation at Beano Mark Cotton, the Beano's digital leader, told Newsbeat that Minecraft is "their biggest passion and their most cherished love"

p>Mark says that the game is an extension of the comic and a way of making The Beano "a more holistic experience" for kids.

/p>

p>He states that 32,000 comics are sold each Week of the Beano, which is still an impressive number.

/p>

p>It's still much from the two million copies sold during the peak of the magazines.

/p>

p>"We are aware that children today are obsessed with digital technology," Mark says. Mark.

p>"We have to transform The Beano into a 360-degree brand where Dennis and Gnasher is everywhere kids are, instead of expecting them to come to us.

p>"So we're putting together an entire series of articles on the next three to six months."

p>There are puzzle games as well as interactive comics and an "action 3-D game for children".

/p>

p>DC Thompson, The Beano's publisher has already expanded The Beano brand to include a TV show and a photo-sharing application and YouTube? channel.

p>Grand Theft Auto?

p>The comic has been around since 1938 and has plenty of adult fans. The Beano characters could also make an appearances in adult-oriented games, like Dennis the Menace in Grand Theft Auto.

p>"We are focusing on the 7-11-year-old digital product. At the moment digital is all about engaging with children and understanding their interests.

p>To do this, they've consulted the group of 10 seven to 11-year-old Beano and Minecraft fans throughout the development process.

p>"We basically asked kids"If you were to put Beano into Minecraft, what do you think?'

p>"This was the first step to begin to imagine what they desired. Obviously their imaginations are much greater than we can imagine for the moment.

p>"But they wanted to play pranks. They wanted Walter, Gnasher and Dennis. That's what they got.

/p>

p>"We'll continue to communicate with them. Our goal is to expand this and build Beanotown and let children be creative.

/p>

p>"Minecraft is so beloved because it gives power to children. If we tried to control the kids and tell them what to do, they'd probably reject it."

p>Are there any other characters who might be allowed to see in?

p>Mark says, "We certainly want to extend it."

/p>

p>"The obvious character and the one the kids have been looking for is Minnie the Minx so that's what we'd likely take a look at next."
